Not disappointed, a bit concerned, but NOT giving up!!

So, it's Thursday... Gym day.  The C25K program Week 5, Day 3 was telling me to do 5 min warm up and then jog 20 straight min.  I had fully accepted that I would not likely achieve this goal today, I hoped that I might, but knew it wasn't likely.  Now this is not a lack of confidence thing, this is a self awareness thing.  I know what I am capable of, at this point in this training program.  So I approached today with the outlook that~ I'd jog as long as I could, walk for a few minutes, and get back at the jogging as soon as I could.  I'm not sure how the creators of this program would feel about me altering their program to meet my needs, but at least I'm doing SOMETHING.  That's how I'm looking at this.  So here's how it played out...

5 minute warm up walk
10 minute jog
2 minute walk
8 minute jog
3 minute walk
6 minute jog
7 minute walk

Now, to be totally honest, I'm not disappointed in that performance, it's a total of 24 minutes jogging.  I mean, I sure NEVER would have thought that would be possible, for me.  While I'm not at all disappointed in this, I am a bit concerned about the fact that at the end of the entire 41 minutes on the tread mill, I had still only made it 2.5 miles.  That means that I either need to walk/jog way faster, or be able to go a lot longer.  I am SOOOO slow ~but seriously, I'm also short, fat, out of shape and old!!!
The reason that his concerns me, is that I have made the decision to walk/jog the Highland Festival 5K, on May 26th. That is only 3 weeks away, and only 3 weeks to be able to make it the full distance. OMG!!!  So, I've devised this plan for Saturday mornings walk/jog
~I will attempt to up my speed a bit, and
5 min warm up walk
10 min jog
2 min walk
10 min jog
2 min walk
10 min jog
5 minute cool down walk
Hopefully that puts me at the entire 3miles/5K.  I know it's not 20 minutes straight but for now it may be my best chance of making it the entire distance. AND I need to remember that my end goal is to be able to run the entire thing by the first week of August, not the end of May.  I'm getting there, slowly but surely, but I'm NOT giving up!!!

I'm not disappointed in this attempt or my progress so far,
I am a bit concerned about achieving my goals,
But I will NOT give up!!!
