Cork Board Project

Maddy was wanting/needing a cork board for her little corner of The Studio, and we both wanted something cute, so I made one.  Well kind of. I repurposed a really old picture frame that I've had in the attic for a very long time. Here's what that project looked like.

BEFORE
This is what the frame looked like, before it became
a cork board!! UGLY!! It's pretty old and
possibly an antique, but I was never going to
use it looking like this, so I painted it!!

I really liked these corner details and
that's kinda what made me decide to keep
it and repurpose it.

AFTER
I bent or removed the nails in the back, and stuck the cork board in.
I used a bit of hot glue around the edges for a little extra secureness.

AFTER

The shelf was also something I had in the attic.
We may change the pictures out, they're pretty old
{like 8-10yrs old} But for now, we left them.
I used regular gloss black acrylic paint to paint the frame. It did take several coats, three to be exact. I would have preferred to use spray paint. I LOVE to spray paint, but it's not exactly spray painting weather here in {freezing cold} Michigan. And it seems my husband frowns upon spray painting inside the garage with the wood stove going... something about blowing the place up. Psh!! What ever!!!

So there you go, the Cork Board Project!!! Not real exciting, but I think it ended up pretty cute.

My next project is cleaning out and rearranging the entry way, or mud room, which ever term you prefer to use. It won't be anything fancy, just a good cleaning out of cupboards, rearranging, and hanging some new hooks. I'm sure I'll post something about it.
