Spring Break has begun...

So thePlan was work out Saturday morning, shower, pack the car and HIT THE OPEN ROAD!!! So much for thePlan... I had this picture in my head of me and Maddy with our car loaded to the bursting point with enough clothing and winter gear to survive for a month {although we will only be gone 6 days} listening to our road trip CD mixes, piling down junk food, laughing like idiots over stupid things, as we drove off on our Spring Break Adventure to the Great North! Well, that is just NOT at all how this trip went, not at all!!! A storm was blowing in, and everyone was worried about us leaving Saturday morning, so the decision was made to try leave Friday evening and try to beat the storm.  I left work early, rushed around, finished packing my stuff, Maddy drove home early, we shoved everything in the car, and off we went! It was windy and raining when we left town and within an hour it was 4 inches of slushy, sloppy snow, AND it was getting dark.  Eventually the slop turned into just regular snow and it was easier driving, but then  the snowflakes became the size of golfballs, FOR REAL.  They were epic huge and visibility was like 3 feet. We obviously did NOT beat the storm!! We didn't have time to make travel Cd's and no one was having fun and NO ONE was laughing!! And worse yet, I had to drive across the Mighty Mac! I am NOT a fan of driving in the dark, I'm not a fan of driving in the snow, and I am not a fan of driving over the huge ass Mackinaw Bridge. I am certainly NOT a fan of all 3 at once. Yeah, instead of having a crazy fun, girls trip I spent 5 hours facing my demons!! But the important thing is that we arrived safe and sound.  We woke up first thing this morning and there was over a foot of snow, it was still snowing, and the wind is whipping!  Instead of my 5k training day, I shoveled a bit!! Had a great breakfast, watching movies and relaxing.  Will go back out and shovel some more in a little while, maybe after taking a little nap ~that's Day One of our vacation...
