It's That Time of The Week Again

My crating/scrapbooking/papercrafting/DIY tYpe friends/readers will know what I'm talking about, the rest of you may need to look it up {if you were so inclined}

Today is #workspacewednesday or #hfworkspacewednesday on Instagram.
I'm not actually sure how this hashtag got started and honestly I'm not even sure what the hf stands for in the hashtag, but I'm obsessed with it. OBsessed!!!
I LOVE browsing through and seeing people's workspaces. I'm not sure it's a healthy obsession cuz sometimes I even creep on people's Instagram and follow them! I don't reserve this bizarre obsession for just Instagram though... I browse Pinterest looking at art studios & craft spaces, I buy magazines that feature these places! I am obsessed with work spaces!!!

And sadly this is what my space looks like

Yep! It's clean!!! And NOT becuz I'm a tidy crafter, but becuz I've done NOTHING crafty here in months! Except sort my monthly kits. This has got to change! This MUST change SOON!

Take a pic of your workspace, post it on Instagram and hashtag it!!! See you on #workspacewednesday

Bedroom Relocations...

So, in almost 24yrs of marriage, my husband and I have only lived in 2 houses {with a combined total of 7 bedrooms}and we have occupied 5 different bedrooms, in those 2 houses.  Same with the kids. Yep. We move our bedrooms around pretty often. I've been told this is strange behavior, but we are a strange family, so it doesn't really seem strange to us. Recently, my son Tallon, bought his own house and moved out {hopefully for good this time} and this left us with a big bedroom upstairs that was just sitting there empty. Seemed like a good time to discuss the option of everyone switching things around again. Maddy was in the tiniest bedroom, which has a big closet, and is on the main floor. We were in a decent sized room with a big closet, which was also on the main floor. The newly emptied room is decent sized but has a tiny closet, and is upstairs. My Studio is the 4th bedroom and is also upstairs.
We spent several months with the room sitting empty, debating about who would move where, and how we would remedy the closet situation.  Part of  debate was due to the fact that the staircase is steep, narrow and twists, making it impossible to get a box spring larger than a twin upstairs. We finally made the decision just after my father died, leaving us with a King size bed, and the fact that it is the only room that we could push the bed into a corner, creating a situation for Ryan to prop himself up to sleep. {he has a medical condition that requires him to sleep somewhat upright, so he's been sleeping on the couch for months {guess that makes the living room his 6th bedroom occupied, LOL}

Here is how we remedied all of our issues. Maddy moved into our main floor bedroom, leaving here with a large closet, and bigger bed. We moved upstairs to the empty room, and Ryan's belongings all went into the small closet. My Studio stayed right where it is upstairs!  And we turned the tiny bedroom into a walk in closet {for my clothes}/trophy room/gun room, kind of thing. I really had a million other things I should've been doing but this seemed like a fun project to take on, and we moved!
Soooooo here are some pics. Neither room is completely done, but close enough for a post!!

Our new bedroom:

Yep, that light fixture is ugly and eventually I WILL change it out,
just gotta figure out what I want there.
It might be nice to have actually walls,
but it helps it feel roomier this way.

The floor definitely needed to be painted.
I still need more stars for the one wall
and not sure what I'm doing with the big blank wall yet.
I'm struggling to come up with {cheap} ideas for wall art.
I will most likely do something different with that big picture frame area.
For now it has some Script Art by Kal Barteski washi taped to the wall
cuz there's a big magnetic tack board very strongly stuck to the wall.
And I plan to paint the little table eventually. Or not.
Tiny closet area, and the bedside table that I inherited from my father, but was originally
belonged to my grandparents, I do believe.
It's retro and funky. I like it.

New bookcases and empty canvases that I will eventually create some
{crappy looking} art for and I still need to fill the bookshelves, and
all those Project Life albums, but I'll get to it, eventually.
A close-up of the funky bedside table. No it's not really
that crooked, it's my photo skills!!!

And the Walk-In closet/trophy display/gun room:
BEFORE:
I do really really LOVE purple, but it's time for a change.
Ali is all about helping me paint.

I'm not sure about the closet doors, they drive me crazy, sliding them
back and forth every time I need in them, AND the dusting,
I was considering replacing them with curtains, but I'm holding off, for now.

AFTER:
This is what you see when you look in from the door.

Ryan rarely ever gets trophies, his classes usually pay cash
So, when he gets cool trophies, we keep them
These are pretty cool.
These are pretty cool too.
Closet doors
Some cool art I got this Summer at a festival
Bookself I'm using to store my gym bag,
camera bag, jewelry and odds & ends
Saw this idea on Pinterest. It was a cheap and easy way to hang
my bracelets
View from another angle.
I put some hooks one the wall behind the door for stuff I
need almost daily, like Spin class bag, PJ's, towel
that kind of stuff.
Those shoes are my daughters high heel shoes.
handing on the back of the door.

Looking toward the door.
Basket for yoga mats, some small weights, exercise bands.
Cool race trophy from Texas.
I also moved a leather footstool type seat thing under the window
For Stella to sit on and look out window or for sitting on
to put shoes on & such...
There will eventually be a gun cabinet on the wall next to the window, but that will wait
until race season is over, I'm sure.

There you have it. The rooms are not anything grand or exciting, and they're not completely done, but we are most of the way there, and now I can move on to cleaning and organizing the rest of my house.

August Review In Pictures

AUGUST

I'm almost caught up on the Monthly Reviews here. I know, these are soooooo exciting, I bet you all sit around just waiting to read this stuff!!!! Try not to get too bored, here we go!

These guys showed up in the field out behind our house.
They were pretty skiddish, so I couldn't get real close for pics
I believe these are Great White Egret

I have pumpkins growing!!!!!
I'm thinking they're just going to be little guys
Trip to the mall for some shopping
And I tried something new, Mediterranean Food.
I almost never try new things, and sure it came from a
fast food vendor in the mall, so it may not be authentic but
it was different from my normal and it was good.
The family made the trip to the U.P. for my father's memorial service.
First stop was his house in Kincheloe, to finish removing his belongings
and handle some paperwork type stuff,
then we were on to Fisherman's Point, for the services.
While in the U.P. we took the dogs for walks,
emptied my fathers cabin, and such.
Took a few pics of Maddy & Chris.
It was a very warm and sunny day.
{The sun may have caused some eye squinting}
On the drive home we stopped at a beach to let the dogs have a swim
and to burn off some energy

Ali LOVES to Swim
Stella LOVES to jump, run, and play, but she does NOT want to go
out deep enough for her feet to leave the ground.

So many things to stop and sniff.
I think Ali liked that she could swim out deep and escape
from crazy Stella.
And Stella found a friend, and she looked JUST like Stella
She was quite interested in her own reflection!!!
Stop and smell the roses, or weeds, whatever!

Stella also LOVES to dig
This isn't a great pic of Ali but it's so hard to get good pics of her
cuz she's so black and NOT a fan of the camera.
Stella is NOT having the deep water!!!
Race weekend in Cadillac and it rained, a lot. Not hard rain, just non-stop rain.
Sandy mud...
A good book on a rainy day, in the camper, always
makes for good napping.
Ryan and Stella
Ryan cooking on the grill, with his lap dog.
Made a trip to JoAnn Fabrics for some canvas
Did some serious painting on the teeny, tiny, bedroom
We moved our bedroom upstairs.
I'm gonna do an entire post on both
 these bedrooms, soon.
We had a couple windows and the front door replaced
Now my biggest decision is what color to paint the doors.
I hope next summer we can replace a couple more windows and paint the house.
Stella has been obsessed with digging for ground moles.
The Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant held a big Motocross race.
That meant building an entire track in the middle of a field.
We snuck in to have a look at the track one evening.
Ryan & Chris discuss the direction & flow of the track.
The guys had band practice in our mess of a garage.
It must've been hot, cuz they had their shirts off.
A blurry picture of me at Spin class.
In August I went to 20 classes.
A 3 day weekend at the Soaring Eagle Casino race.
Friday was a practice day
Ryan

Tallon

Chris & Tallon discussing track

Chris
Ryan
Who LOVES me taking his pic, non stop.
Tallon {and a buddy} Jerry discussing the track
and tomorrows races.
Maddy & Chris
Friday night the casino was having a concert
Fall Out Boy. I'm not a huge fan of their music, but I'm always
up for a concert. We watched from the top of the hill over a short fence.
They were actually pretty good.
Maddy had a friend come with her and SHE WAS a BIG fan.
That's Mal, in the green
Chris, Maddy, Tallon, Brittany watching the band.
After the concert, we watched Jimmy Albertson test the
track, under the lights, to see how well it was gonna work
on Saturday night.
Saturdays race schedule.
This was a vet race, so all the racers were over 18yrs of age.
Ryan was race #2 {40A} and race #6 {35A}
I like this pic becuz it's Tallon & Ryan on the line, before the race.
And also becuz all the bikes are being held by the racers sons,
while the dads prep their gates.
Kind of a cool moment.

Literally moments before Ryans practice, it poured
What is with the rain...????
If you're keeping track that's 3 races in a row.
mud...

The Freestyle guys put on a show after all the amateur races were done.
The show was short lived cuz it down poured AGAIN!!
At this point Ryan decided he was DONE racing for the weekend.
And out came the bottle of wine.
He had planned to race the vet/pro 30+ class, but he wasn't a fan of the track
or the mud, so he decided to sit it out. After postponing the race several hours
and the crews worked like crazy on the track, it actually turned out great.
Ryan then regretted the choice & the wine.
At home he actually uses a glass.
But he sees no point in bothering at the track!
Since his diagnoses of Gluten Intolerance, he's
developed a taste for wine.
Chris during the Pro race, under the lights
Jerry, during the Pro race, under the lights.
There was some drinking that went on, at our camp site.
Mostly by Tallon & these boys...
  Jared & Steve.
Good friends, not racers!
The girls watching the Pro racing from the Pits.
Mallory, Brittany, and Maddy
Maddy's friend Mal had never been to a race before and she really
seemed to enjoy the experience.
This couple also showed up in the field out behind our house.  14yrs we've lived here and we've never
had birds like we've had this summer.  We've had a huge amount of crows as well.
I believe these are called Sandhill Cranes. They're pretty big and loud.
Well, that's it, August. Told you it wasn't going to be very exciting!!!! But it's our life.
