DRIVEN

I haven't posted a blog in FOREVER. Recently I've been feeling the need to share, and it's more information than I could possibly toss on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter!!! I wanted you all to know, I have not abandon this blog, or you, my loyal 15 followers!!! I wanted to explain, that for a bit, my priorities had to change. I haven't given up on my attempt at blogging, or fitness, or scrapbooking, or crafting, or any of the other crazy stuff we talk about on here!!! So here goes.
You remember the drill... I ramble on endlessly about, not much at all. I share stuff, no one really is interested in, in a less than grammatically correct manner, with a high chance of profanity!!

Some of you are familiar with what's been going on in my strange life, some not. So I'll give you a quick catch up first. Since October my husband decided I should work more hours, and dress nicer for work. (Sheesh! he is NO fun!!). I've been working out/running very early in the mornings. In October, we took in 2 foster puppies for 3 weeks, One stayed Furever!!! We love our Stella, Pit Bull/Lab mix, but she has been a handful. This is her, just last weekend!

Last Fall my husband was also riding/racing his dirt bike more frequently than he had been.  Maddy, met a new boy (who Ryan already knew from racing) and they are STILL dating. His name is Chris, we quite like him. She ran a half marathon. She continues to attend CMU, and just moved home for the Summer. She still exercises, pretty seriously, and just coached a travel Volleyball team.  Tallon is still Tallon. He now owns 2 dirtbikes, and has a pretty serious work out program. They've had a couple of live shows with the band, Nervz End. we made a trip to Alabama, and  there are likely dozens of other crazy things that probly happened since my last post, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head. Today I want to ramble on about the most EPIC thing, for our family, yep we are getting to that!!
You see (yep, more background info.) while working on songs for the bands newest CD, my husband wrote a song. Tallon does the majority of the writing, but this one song was all Ryan. It is called "Driven" I knew when he wrote it, and what it was about. I also knew last Summer he had mentioned wanting to race serious and attempt to make the big Amateur Nationals again. But in June he hurt his knee, and required some surgery. The knees are in horribly bad shape and both need total replacements. But he will put it off as long as he can manage. At the time I wasn't really all that supportive of his desire to pursue the Nationals, mostly becuz of all his health issues, and the gross expense of it. But this strange thing kept happening to me.  Every time I listened to the new CD, and the song Ryan wrote, it was like I got kicked in the gut! For real!!! When I listened to those lyrics, I knew. I just fricken KNEW!!!

Sometimes amidst our lives
We struggle to go on
We all have unfinished
hopes and dreams
that haunt our lives
Let's find the passion of our life
and push on
You've got to stay Driven
Well past your time
See the end to a life long dream
make it happen today
we may not get another try
You may feel past your prime
but if you got the drive
You can try to stay Driven
You've got to stay driven
Feel yourself getting better
See yourself getting stronger
push harder and harder
You've GOT TO STAY DRIVEN
{those are basically the lyrics}

So, what did I know???? I knew that if my husband didn't try, one more time to make a run at the Nationals,  it would "haunt him" for ever. I knew that I couldn't live with that. I knew when I married him, Motocross was his true passion {he did go to the nationals 4 times when he was younger}, and I could not bear knowing these lyrics were how he felt and not helping him to see his dream through. So I said the words, that might haunt me forever! I told him, let's do this thing! Let's go for it! ALL IN. We will sacrifice, and scrimp, and go without. I will support 100%. The ONLY stipulations had to be, that if his health became a risk, {and by this I'm referring to his Achalasia, and his ability to consume enough food, or water to stay 100% healthy} He would have to throw in the towel. He agreed. The kids were on board to do what ever they could do to help. We bought a second bike, a camper/fun mover, and we were off to the races, literally!! We traveled to Alabama to a track down there to ride just after Christmas. He's been training hard, taking in proper nutrition, and visiting a Physical Therapist/Manipulator occasionally. There was a minor set back this winter when he had a serious bought with pneumonia, but he got back on track!!!
This Spring he attended the "Area Qualifier" for the AMA Amateur National Loretta Lynn's Motocross Championship. He raced in the 35+  and 40+ {age groups} finishing 1st in 40+ and 2nd in 35+
He had a rough patch with his knee's again, but soldiered through.
This past weekend we attended the "Regional Qualifier" where he placed 2nd in the 40+ and 1st in the 35+!!!! The top 7 go on to Nationals, and his only goal was to qualify. During his second race of six, he crashed and dislocated some ribs. But as usual with Ryan, he pushed through! Both our kids came, Tallon worked so hard on getting the bike ready and keeping it ready. Going to the starting gate, and helping him with all that stuff. Maddy wrote her dad a most motivational Facebook post Sunday morning. He read it {and got a bit teary eyed too, don't tell him I told you that} and oddly enough, he pulled himself up and finished strong!!! My only part is keeping him fed and hydrated. Which I did.

So, we are off to the National Championship in July!!!!
And on another odd note...
At the track, we got these cool rubber bracelets. At first I thought, well those are kinda nice piece of memorabilia but later I decided it would be more than that, for me. I decided that I will wear mine everyday until the Nationals, to remind myself what Team Ryno is all about! To remind myself what we are working for, what my job is, and the deal I made, to support 100% (even if sometimes I think he's crazy!!) I would also wear it to remind myself, to keep myself healthy along the way, to stop slacking at the gym, to eat better, to get my fat ass in my new shorts, comfortably!!! This is my rubber bracelet!!! Tried to dress it up with some cute bangles!!LOL!!!

There is a lot of training left to do, and we all need to stay DRIVEN!!!
