Back in a Magic Zone
Okay before we move on to what that title means, I've got some more crazy trippy glimpses into what goes on in my little brain!!! READY??? Brace yourselves! In our tribe/our household we are all very into music. Not just the listening to music, the playing it, the writing it, or the lyrics, but the emotional connections to it, the motivation of it, the healing power of it, the power of music in general, ALL of it. It's truly hard to explain how much we are all into music. That being said, I also believe that music can be used to feed your own emotional needs. You can take lyrics and make them what you need.
Enter a Magic Zone...
That's exactly what happened to me today at the gym. I was walking on the {stupid ass} treadmill, thinking how much I hate this walking!!! And well, it's been days since I've felt motivated to do this thing, instead of feeling like it was a burden! And OF COURSE I was listening to my Zune, when a song came on that did exactly what I think music is meant to do, it motivated me, it moved me, it made me think. Now I know the lyrics of this particular song are meant for something else. I know they are not about walking/training to run a 5k but somehow in that moment I felt the magic that IS music. Volbeat were singing a song for me, to me about me. They were telling me what I needed to hear to get through this walk, this low spot in my training.
And some how I made the lyrics of this song fit into what was going on in my little brain in that moment and walk with a regained sense of freedom and actual joy. I revisited why I am doing this whole thing. Why it's important to concern myself with my health and well being. All of it. I made the song work for me. Now right this minute, I would suggest that you all visit youtube and look up the song Magic Zone by Volbeat{with lyrics} so you can realize just how freaking crazy I really am... Okay, if you don't want to go listen to my crazy song, I am gonna type the lyrics out for you:
Hide or Alone
You make it feel so home
Silence is not even there no more
You make it feel at ease
Something to embrace
A heart that's forever believing it
Life ain't that good
that it's worth dying for
But baby I'll always
take a bullet for you
Hold on tonight
before tomorrow
is gone
A wake up call
greeting me with a smile
A new day is born
and the old is behind
Million crazy butterflies getting drunk
we are one
{chorus}
**I'm down on my tail
but I'm up and I
can feel it again
Angels wings unfold
and the devil sitting
moaning alone
I've been down
but I'm back
in a Magic Zone**
Walking through life
never thought
that I could
finding a soul mate
and marry her too
We're distorted but
we fit like a glove
Pleasure and pain
will walk
hand in hand
No place to run
take it all
day by day
What it takes
What it makes
Let it breathe
Celebrate
{chorus}
repeat first verse
YEP! I am certifiably nuts! Any normal person could see/hear that that song is not about training to run a 5k or the people/things a {crazy} person would be motivated to run the 5k for. BUT I am not normal, I am crazy! And I am motivated by the music in my head!!!!

Back to the {stupid ass} walking
It's been a while since we talked{or I rambled on and you read}about the {stupid ass} walking/ 5k training! After our trip to Otsego Club, I took a few days off because I was sick, and then I took a couple of days off early this week because I was having that wonderful "girl thing" and I just can't get that far from home, during that time! So the walking has been hit and miss and my attitude about it sucks! I hate walking!! I am trying my best to find joy in the nature around me, I'm trying to stay inspired, but the last couple of weeks, I HAVE NOT BEEN FEELING IT!! And now it's getting cold, and that means I will have to decide keep walking outside until I can't take it anymore, steal my MIL's tread mill and walk in the living room, go to the gym with my husband and maybe find other stuff to do besides just walk, or walk around a track at the Middle School? So many choices, NONE of them sound fun! I guess this would be as good a place as any to add a few pics I've been taking on the {stupid ass}walk:
Last night was tough walking, they just grated the road or something and all the rocks were loose. Have I mentioned how clumsy I am? Well I am!! And last night I almost fell, yeah! So I walked slow and watched where I was stepping. Someone mowed the ditches and along the sides of the road {weird}we have been hearing stuff scuttling around in certain really thick sections of fence row, and yesterday we spotted a CUTE little chipmunk. He had obviously never seen a person or a dog before, because he just sat there staring back at us. I tried to get a pic but it was impossible to see him on my iPhone, and he finally ran off. I stopped and chatted with a friend I haven't seen in a while, she happened to be passing by. I took this cool pic of a crow on the phone lines. Edited on my instagram app.
Saw 2 deer on our way back home. It looks like there is going to be some work done on the railroad tracks, don't know what, or how that will affect the road. Might have to take an alternate route.
OH and did I mention I went and signed up to do a fun run/walk 5k this coming weekend??? CRAZY stupid, I know!!!!! I have several friends who are doing this with me and my daughter, but I'm not sure I am ready for it at all. It's for a good cause and it should be interestingly fun. Hopefully it will not be freezing cold! AND Hopefully I can get my mojo back soon. I have issues with delayed gratification, this I know. I should be happy, I'm working toward my goals, I'm getting it done, I'm improving slowly and THAT is probably my problem. I want everything now! And I'm bored! Maybe new music would help. I've tried changing it up, I've listened to everything from Alter Bridge to Volbeat{that's as far as I made it alphabetically speaking}I even stopped off several places in between from Lamb of God{for all you non-metal heads, NO that is not a christian rock band}to Evanescence to Metallica to Stone Sour to Slip Knot. You would think that a person with 19.71GB {3329 songs} on their Zune {yes I realize I could use my iPhone but it has so little room on it compared to my old school Zune} I could find something to listen to. Tallon just bought the new Mastadon CD so I think I may try that tonight and see if it helps, if it stops raining!!!
Harvest Time
Milk Weed. I was always fascinated with this as a kid!!!
Strange how this year, the colors here have not been nearly as wonderful as the colors up north. Seems like a few trees changed and the leaves just blew off the rest! Weird.
Yes more weeds, or wild flowers growing in the ditches
Silly pic. This is what I wear to walk most days
And this is what I take with me, besides the dog. Yes, I carry it in a back back.
These are a few of the latest odds and ends I've gathered along the way.

Wow that was a ramble on about not much at all wasn't it!!
Fall Decorating
The week of the 4th-7th I was kinda sick, so I decided to put out some Fall/Halloween decorations, originally I was going to wait and post about it when we got our pumpkins too, but I decided pumpkins would be there very own post. It's been a while since I trudged up to the overstuffed attic to haul out decorations for any holiday except Christmas. WOW! That attic is a MESS!!!! I also decided that I would tackle a {small} but long overdo project, I would paint my birdcage! My BFF Shelli got it for me, and I loved it, but I needed to paint it. Took me a bit to decide what color and then I finally went with glossy white, that might sound boring but this way I can move it to any room in the house and use it for any decorating I might want! LOVE LOVE LOVE this bird cage, funny thing is I'm not a fan of birds~well birds in cages, living inside houses anyway. I don't mind the cute birds flitting around my yard. I think hummingbirds are pretty cool. And I love big birds, birds of prey... Crows, Ravens, Owls, Eagles, Hawks, that kind of thing. Oh and for some strange reason I really dig Herons, I have no idea why, but I've always been fascinated with them. But my cage is empty, for now.
OH and here's a funny side note, Tallon came home from work, after the decorations were up and asked "What are you like 60 years old now, decorating for Halloween???" ~laughed and went off, on his merry way, to his bed room {to do whatever it is he does up there} What a little jerk!! What the heck does that even mean????
So there you go. It wasn't a lot of decorating but fun still. I will post more pics this after this weekend, we are getting pumpkins. I LOVE pumpkins!! I LOVE carving pumpkins! Maybe I will buy some cider too!
And here is a look at a couple of the holiday things I put out, this isn't everything, there are other odds and ends scattered around the house, these are just my favorites.
Have had these 2 little brass pumpkins forever!
{Think they are Partylite}
The crow was way too big to fit into the bird cage. And since around this house, we are big fans of crows/ravens, I am considering leaving him and the cage up year round. The creepy tree was one of my moms Halloween decorations and was always one of my kids favorites
{my mom LOVED Halloween~it was her birthday}
These guys Maddy and I picked up at Target last week. Thought it was cool how they were exactly the same colors as our dining room~meant to be! The little vase, I'm repurposing from Maddy's graduation open house.
Crappy pic!
Table Center piece.
These flowers and vase also repurposed from the open house. Hey, they are orange and black, have skulls, seemed like a good use for them!! The big twine pumpkins Maddy and I found at Target last week also. The tree I got at a very cool store in Cadillac called "Fea by Freya" The table cloth has funky dragons, griffins, and crows on it{can't tell in pic~it's also repurposed from Tallon and then Maddy's open house,LOL!!} I have since added some real mini pumpkins and gourds to the center piece... In the background you can almost see the fun little pumpkins and cauldron lined up in the window sill. Like I said crappy picture...
AH HA!!!! I just found another pic/a better pic of the center piece!
Another crow/raven
These picture frames have been hanging on the kitchen wall empty since June. I filled them with cool holiday paper {from my scrapbook paper collection}. I went with one crow for Tallon and one owl for Maddy. At first I thought I might change out the paper for each holiday, but right now I'm kinda liking them, so I might just leave them. Or change out for each holiday and then put these back in between holidays. That would be VERY ambitious for me though...
Old {empty} bottle of wine, put a new label on... wish I had more empty bottles, but I'm not really a fan of wine, but I bought a bottle this past weekend becuz it was called Witches Brew, and had a cool label. I am going to try to add to the collection before next year, I like these!!
Strange how I love wine bottles and I love wine glasses{ I have a small collection of different wine glasses}, but I can't stand the taste of wine. If I use my glasses, I drink cranberry juice in them, how funny is that!!!!! Yes, I am a dork!OH and here's a funny side note, Tallon came home from work, after the decorations were up and asked "What are you like 60 years old now, decorating for Halloween???" ~laughed and went off, on his merry way, to his bed room {to do whatever it is he does up there} What a little jerk!! Biking/Hiking/Walk-about Weekend
Okay, it's been a while {AGAIN} and I have NO EXCUSE...
So where did we leave off... The trip Up North. Ryan and I went on a trip a few weeks back and I promised pics! So this post will mostly be pics!!! Are they AWESOME pics? NOPE. But I did learn how to get all my pics on here {not just ones from my iPhone}so some will be better than others!!!
I am a big fan of Fall. I love all the pretty colors and the warm days/cool nights and the falling leaves and the hot chocolate and fuzzy hats and the hunting and well I pretty much LOVE all things FALL!!! So this year my husband borrowed a dual sport motorcycle{for those of you NOT bike aware, that is basically a dirt bike that is street legal}from his brother in law. He threw the bike in the back of the truck and we went and stayed at the in-laws cabin in Cadillac. We stopped at Lonestar and ate on our way. YUMMY!!!!
In the morning we rode from the cabin to the state land and rode around in the woods, hiked in the woods, had a picnic and then biked around the country roads, and back to cabin! And then we did it all over again the next day. Here are the pics

Stumbled onto this HUGE rock! Ryan said it would NOT fit in my backpack!!

Mushrooms, fungus... I like taking pics of these guys! Why? I just think they look kinda cool and strange!!!
Sometimes when he got bored, waiting for me to catch up, he'd move big rocks off the bike trails!

more cool trees...
Funky weird looking frog
Chipmunk
Picnic
Dragonfly
Supper Time
I had a great time, even though I was still kind of sick, it's hard to walk up big hills when you are hacking up a lung!!! I liked riding the bike, even though my ass was killing me by the end of the trip!!! We rode a total of 115miles. I got to give the "biker wave"!!! I was pretty geeked about that, Ryan laughed at me!!! I wish we had seen more wildlife, I wish I had gotten pictures of the HUGE ravens, and the bald Eagle, but at least we saw them... We didn't see a single deer, but with me hacking and blowing my nose, I'm not shocked!!! I learned a few things along the way... **The back seat of a Harley is a LOT more comfortable that a Dual Sport. *BUT a Harley could never go the places we went, so I am gonna need 2 bikes now!!! **There is a reason bikers braid their hair. **It's hard to see around a guy who is 6 foot tall, so my own bike will definitely improve the sight seeing. On the way home Sunday we stopped at Jay's Sporting Goods. I got a new journal, for bikers!
And that one's upside down!!! too funny!!
So there you have it... I'm sure there was a lot more to tell, but I'm trying to keep it short, what with all the pics!!!
